CNC Router Fault with Z Axis Out Of Control Goes Suddenly | Troubleshooting
Z axis out of control usually refers to the cnc router machine Z axis goes down suddenly during working. Some friends have encountered this problem in the use of machines. With the idea of helping them as much as possible, we would like to share the solutions and ideas for solving this problem here. EagleTec is a China CNC Router manufacturer and solution provider for many years.
This problem can be caused by many different factors; it is not a problem only caused by one certain factor. So when check the cause, it may need to check one factor by one factor. So, we need to have some patience to deal with this problem. Now we are going to talk about all the possible factors that caused z axis out of control.
Factor 01. The CNC Motion Controller
Data wire is loose or it is broken. Please check the connection of the data wire and to see whether it is loose or not. If yes, please connect well again. If the connection is in good condition, it is probably got broken. You are suggested to replace a new cable.
Factor 02. Electrostatic Interference
In this case, please do earthing for the machine.
Factor 03. Z axis Motor Cable
Please use relevant instrument to check the Z axis motor cable of your cnc router. If the cable broken, then need to replace new cable. If everything is ok, please check other factors.
Factor 04. The Toolpath File
Please check the toolpath file carefully. If it is caused by the toolpath file, then correct the file as solution.
Factor 05. Variable Frequency Drive
This factor can be checked by the exclusion method. This factor can be considered for the cause if no other cause is found after we checked everything. We can add EMI filter for the spindle as solution.
Factor 06. The Computer
If your machine’s controller is nc studio or mach 3, you have to use a computer to run and control the machine motion. If the computer is infected with the virus, it can also cause this problem. As solution, please do antivirus or reinstall system for computer.
Factor 07. The Z axis Motor
Motor failure can also cause this problem. If you are using servo motor, we can check the error code on the driver and solve the error accordingly; if motor is stepping, it is better to test the Z axis with a new motor. If the problem disappear, it is proved that problem is caused by the motor fault.
Factor 08. Z axis Working Speed Too Big
For stepping motors, big speed will cause lose step; about servo motors, big speed may cause overload. Please lower the Z axis processing speed to test. If the error disappear after speed reduced, then it is because the un proper speed setup.
